Non-periodic data

  • System data

  • System measurement data

  • Roles and authorizations

  • Transaction codes

  • Professional user/Limited professional user table activities

  • HR data

  • Business functions

  • Add-on data

  • RFC destinations

  • User master data

  • Digital Access measurement data

Periodic data

note

To have up-to-date data in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, you should load user master data and periodic data on a regular basis, preferably once a month.

tip

Use the Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems report to automate the parallel processing of data load jobs.

Selection criteria

In addition to the standard selections, the selection screen of the report has the following selections:

Options for non-periodic data types

You can select the non-periodic data types to load.

note
  • You can select Only roles to avoid a possible short dump due to insufficient memory when loading full roles and authorization data.

  • To use the Only license-relevant users option in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software reports, you must activate Roles and authorizations and USMM license type systematic when loading data.

  • You can set the Only dialog users and Only current valid users checkboxes to be preselected and uneditable in Data load ABAP.

If you select Digital Access measurement, optionally enter the start date of the measurement.

note
  • To measure Digital Documents, support packages including SAP Passport must be installed on the systems.

  • Digital Documents can only be measured from the point in time when SAP Passport is installed on the systems. It is impossible to measure Digital Documents that were created before this time.

  • When Digital Access measurement data is reloaded, only the delta of the data is loaded. To load all existing Digital Access measurement data, select Refresh data.

Options for periodic data types

You can select the periodic data types to load.

If Load CCMS statistics data remains selected, you can select the task type and deselect Load module information and Load external accesses if not required.

note

You can define defaults for loading periodic data in Periodic data.

Options for processing

You can select the USMM license type systematic to load.

note
  • USMM license type systematic is only selectable if you select User master data.

  • To use the Only license-relevant users option in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software reports, you must activate Roles and authorizations and USMM license type systematic when loading data.

  • You can set USMM license type systematic to be preselected and uneditable in Data load ABAP.

  • There is a report that applies or removes the USMM license type systematic to the loaded user master data only after the data is loaded.

You can execute this report in the background.

Result

A pop-up shows information about the number of successfully loaded data sources, failed data sources, and inactive data sources. If there are errors, select Error details to show details.

The result shows the load protocol for each data source with the data types and the number of loaded records per data type. If applicable, the data is broken down by period.

Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems

Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems

Access through: Administration > Data > ABAP systems > Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems

Job swarms automate the parallel processing of data load jobs. They are an efficient and fail-safe alternative to manual processing or planning jobs with the Load data from ABAP systems report.

When job swarms are executed, the selected ABAP data sources are divided into individual jobs, one job for each ABAP data source. All jobs can be processed in parallel, thus reducing the runtime of the entire data load process. This procedure can speed up the data load process by a factor equal to the number of available batch processes within an SAP system.

Jobs for different clients on the same satellite systems are automatically distributed evenly across the job swarm to minimize the total runtime and peak loads on the satellite systems.

Technical problems with a single job do not cause all jobs in a job swarm to fail. In each job swarm, a control job is included in the data load job and is automatically released when the associated data load job successfully completes or fails. This procedure ensures that all data-load jobs are included in the protocol. The last control job executed in a job swarm takes over all logging and triggers a mail protocol that can be sent to selected recipients.

Start job swarm

Access through: Administration > Data > ABAP systems > Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems > Start job swarm

The Start job swarm report allows you to create job swarms to load data from selected ABAP data sources.

The selection screen is the same as the selection screen of the Load data from ABAP systems report, only job classes are added to the selection. Job class C for load jobs and job class B for control jobs are selected by default

note

To have up-to-date data in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software, you should schedule this report in batch, preferably once a month.

Monitor and protocol job swarm

Access through: Administration > Data > ABAP systems > Job swarms for loading data from ABAP systems > Monitor and protocol

In Monitor and protocol, you can show the current data load processes and review the data load protocols of job swarms.

A table shows an entry per job swarm with the following information:

  • Job swarm ID

  • Total number of jobs

  • Successfully completed jobs

  • Running jobs

  • Jobs with errors

  • Estimated percentage of processed jobs

  • Inactive jobs

  • Start date and time

  • User who started the job swarm

  • Do one of the following:

    • To show details of a job swarm entry, select a row and select Details1.png.

      1. To show the data load protocol, select a row and select Protocol.png.
    • To delete a job swarm entry, select a row and select Delete2.png.

      note

You can delete job swarm entries even if the job swarm is not completed. If you delete an entry, the data load jobs will continue, but the protocol email will not be sent.

Data administration ABAP systems

Data administration ABAP systems

Access through: Administration > Data > ABAP systems > Data administration ABAP systems

The Data administration ABAP systems feature allows you to manage loaded data of connected ABAP data sources.

Description

Tabs for non-periodic data and single periodic data types show icons for the data status for each connected ABAP data source. When you select an icon, a pop-up shows the data source and category, and when and by whom the data was last loaded. If you select an empty field, a pop-up only shows the data source and category. Depending on the data type, the pop-ups offer options for loading and deleting data. For non-periodic data, you can define warning thresholds that specify the time when the data becomes outdated.

Data status

Non-periodic data

IconDescription
Loaded_complete.pngThe data is loaded completely.
Outdated.pngThe data is outdated based on the warning threshold.
Not available.pngThe data is not available due to the system type or version.
NoneNo data is loaded.

Periodic data (consumption data, Digital Documents, change documents, IDocs, and batch input data)

IconDescription
Loaded_complete1.pngThe Data is loaded completely because the selected period is complete.
Incomplete.pngThe data is loaded incompletely because the selected period is incomplete.

Manage warning thresholds

For each type of non-periodic data, you can specify the number of days from which the data is outdated.

  1. Select Settings.png.

  2. Enter the numbers for the warning thresholds.

    note

If you enter no number, the default value of 31 days is used.

  3. Save
