STAR user evaluation

The STAR user evaluation report is a part of the S/4HANA Trusted Authorization Review (STAR) feature in Snow Optimizer for SAP® Software. It shows a simulation of the S/4HANA license requirements based on users by comparing the current ECC users based on their assigned authorizations to an authorization object classification on the selected data sources. This allows you to find the required S/4HANA license types. After executing the report, you can save and export the report results.

note
  • To execute this report, you have to classify the selected system according to the selected authorization object classification.
  • We strongly recommend that you carefully review the S/4HANA license types suggested by the report result.

Selection criteria​

In addition to the standard selections, the selection screen of the report has the following selections:

Classification

You can select the authorization object classification.

Options

You can select Use default license type to include the system-specific default license type according to USMM in the evaluation.

You can execute this report in the background.

Result​

The report result shows the number of users with the current license type and the target license type based on their authorizations. It also shows how many users of a certain target license type are authorized for engines. The users who are not assigned to any target license type and who are not authorized for any engines are shown in the Unclassified column.

Functions available in the report result:

  • To show the consolidated view by license type, select Consolidated view. To return to the unconsolidated view, select Unconsolidated view.

  • Select Export for SAP STAR Service to export the report results to a file with encrypted user IDs and blank user names.

    note

    • A single export file is created for each analyzed system.

    • You can optionally encrypt the output files with a password.

  • Select a number in the report result to show a User list table. In addition to user information and the current and suggested license type, the table columns show the following information:

    • Ratio shows how many of the assigned roles match the target license type.
    • Possible usage shows if at least for one authorization object usage is detected.
    • Possible usage target classification shows if at least one of the used objects is classified with the target license type.
    • Roles with possible usage shows the number of roles for which at least for one of their objects usage is identified.
    • Roles with possible usage target classification shows the number of roles for which at least for one of their objects usage is identified and that are classified with the target license type.
    • No usage check shows whether a usage check was performed. If no usage check was performed, either no usage check with the STAR execute classification report was performed, or the checked object has no recommended license type. Only classified objects are checked.

  • In the User list table, select a user ID to show a Role list table with all the roles and profiles assigned to the selected user. In addition to role and profile information and the suggested license type, the table columns show the following information:

    • Ratio shows how many of the assigned objects match the target license type.
    • Possible usage shows if at least for one authorization object usage is detected.
    • Possible usage target classification shows if at least one of the used objects is classified with the target license type.
    • No usage check shows whether a usage check was performed. If no usage check was performed, either no usage check with the STAR execute classification report was performed, or the checked object has no recommended license type. Only classified objects are checked.

  • In the Role list table, select a role or profile to show an Object list table with all objects assigned to the selected role or profile. In addition to object information, the table columns show the following information:

    • Transactions: Select the icon to show the transactions linked to the object.
    • Services: Select the icon to show the OData services and Web Dynpro applications linked to the object.
    • Possible usage shows if at least for one authorization object usage is detected.
    • No usage check shows whether a usage check was performed. If no usage check was performed, either no usage check with the STAR execute classification report was performed, or the checked object has no recommended license type. Only classified objects are checked.
